Recognition Awards
Description
The Francophone Centre of Sault Ste. Marie (CFSSM) presents its annual awards to recognize contributions to the preservation, restoration, and vitality of our community’s culture, language, and traditions.
Nominations may be submitted by any member of the community or any member of the CFSSM, including member organizations and the Board of Directors.
A special committee will be established to review the nominations and determine the winners. This committee will consist of at least three people representing the CFSSM Board of Directors and community members.
The awards are usually presented during the local celebration of Franco-Ontarian Day.
Francophone Volunteer Award
This award is presented to one (1) person who meets the following criteria:

Awards may be presented to an individual, group, or organization whose activities or contributions take place in Sault Ste. Marie for the following contributions:
A Francophone who has made an exceptional contribution to the vitality, promotion, expansion, or renewal of the Francophone culture, language, or heritage of Sault Ste. Marie, and whose contribution has been maintained or enriches the community;
Who has made an exceptional volunteer contribution to education, advocacy, and awareness, and who recognizes the development or delivery of local Francophone programs, activities, or materials based on the curriculum that encourages students to explore the Francophonie; Other contributions to the Francophonie;
Nomination Process
1. Nominations must be submitted to the Sault Ste. Marie Francophone Centre.
2. All sections of the nomination form must be completed in full.
3. Nominations must be received no later than September 15. 4. Proposal authors may resubmit their proposal each year if the candidate is not selected for the prize.
Notification and Presentation
All nominators will receive written confirmation of their nomination and the decision of the Centre francophone de Sault-Sainte-Marie. The prize will be awarded at the annual Francophonie Recognition Ceremony.

- has made a significant contribution to the Franco-Ontarian community in the region over the past few years,
- has proudly represented Franco-Ontarian culture,
- has provided assistance at community activities and events, exceeding the expectations of a typical volunteer,
- speaks French proudly, and
- is a resident of Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area.
This award is presented to one (1) person who meets the following criteria:
- has played a key role in the development of the Franco-Ontarian community through their actions and exceptional community involvement,
- demonstrates originality and a vision that addresses a concrete need of Francophones in the community, the region, or a specific sector,
- remains actively involved as a Francophone,
- speaks French proudly, and
- is a resident of Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area.
